About the Department
Department of Urdu at Kaliachak college started its journey in 2017. The department offers the programs in Urdu language and literature at the undergraduate level. These programs typically culminate in a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Urdu.
The main task of the Department is to develop the mind of Urdu students regarding the language, literature and culture.
Urdu is a Hindustani language that is spoken in South Asia. It is a descendant of Khariboli, a dialect of Hindi, and is heavily influenced by Persian, Arabic, and Turkic languages. Urdu is one of the 22 official languages of India.
