Introduction: The Department of Philosophy at Kaliachak College started its journey in 2008, catering to the needs for pass (general) programme in Philosophy while it got upgraded offering Honours programme since 2012. Needless to say, the College was established in 1995. At present, the Department is run by two members of faculty, i.e., an Assistant Professor and a State Aided College Teachers.
Mission: The primary mission of the Department of Philosophy is to uphold academic excellence by inculcating analytical approach and free thinking among the students. We strive to equip our students with the necessary linguistic, analytical, and critical skills (together with textual analysis) enabling them opting for divergent professions like religious trainers, philosophical counsellors, academics, administrators etc.
Cultural Enrichment: We are committed to fostering a deep appreciation for divergent cultures and socio-religio-ethnic environs. Our mission is to cultivate an environment where students engage themselves in various activities (both personal and professional) giving rise to appreciation for divergent cultures and ethos.
Research and Innovation: The Department of Philosophy is highly concerned to promote research and innovation in the field of Philosophical studies with an interdisciplinary approach—together with fostering a genuine effort in rising intellectual curiosity among the students and members of faculty alike.
Vision: Our vision is to emerge as a leading centre of excellence in philosophical studies (both Indian and Western), where the students, on graduating from the Department, are able to cope with the divergent situations in their days to come.
